Oriental North Carolina:
It was a great stop there, I have a feeling we will return someday and even find the places open that weren't this time lol.

Our dinghy with an aluminium (north american english) bottom and a 15 hp engine, much more stable than our old one |

Shrimp boats with birds |
Along the way we needed a place to stop so we anchored in Public Creek just off the ICW, so quiet birds singing and lots of wild life, so we thought.
An early start the following morning NOT!
Don went up to the flybridge and came back down pretty quick to get the bug spray. He said he had heard a noise and the whole bimini was covered in mosquitoes thank goodness we had some spray. It took both of us about 2 and a half hours to get rid of the bodies and even then some seemed to resurrect themselves and be a pest (lol).

I just had to take a pic of this guy who sat very still as we passed by |
|
An unusual pose for a dolphin, they don't play with you here as much as in some places but we do see a lot. |
|
So here we are at our first lock before we get to Norfolk / and Portsmouth.
The lock emptied and down we went, a whole 18 inches or so, nothing to shout about really.
Yet another bridge at Wilmington that opens only at certain times to allow barges and other boat traffic through, there is work being done there so there was a bit of a hold up for a while.
Well we had to wait quite a while for the traffic both cars, 2 barges, sailing boats, big motor yachts and trawlers.
Ok next blog will be Norfolk and Portsmouth in Virginia.
