On our way to Deltaville,

Oriental North Carolina:

It was a great stop there, I have a feeling we will return someday and even find the places open that weren't this time lol.

Our dinghy with an aluminium (north american english) bottom and a 15 hp engine, much more stable than our old one
The night view
Shrimp boats with birds

Along the way we needed a place to stop so we anchored in Public Creek just off the ICW, so quiet birds singing and lots of wild life, so we thought.
An early start the following morning NOT!

Don went up to the flybridge and came back down pretty quick to get the bug spray. He said he had heard a noise and the whole bimini was covered in mosquitoes thank goodness we had some spray. It took both of us about 2 and a half hours to get rid of the bodies and even then some seemed to resurrect themselves and be a pest (lol).

I just had to take a pic of this guy who sat very still as we passed by
An unusual pose for a dolphin, they don't play with you here as much as in some places but we do see a lot.

So here we are at our first lock before we get to Norfolk / and Portsmouth.

The lock emptied and down we went, a whole 18 inches or so, nothing to shout about really.

Yet another bridge at Wilmington that opens only at certain times to allow barges and other boat traffic through, there is work being done there so there was a bit of a hold up for a while.

Well we had to wait quite a while for the traffic both cars, 2 barges, sailing boats, big motor yachts and trawlers.

Ok next blog will be Norfolk and Portsmouth in Virginia.

Addition to the trip to Deltaville Virginia

An addition to the last blog

The last posts were made in a bit of a hurry so I missed out posting some things, mainly photographs so here they are.

When were heading north on the ICW we passed Charleston we didn't stop as we stayed there a few years ago on the road trip, we saw this in the yard for some repairs.

It could have been this one we did a river trip a couple of years ago.
It was the 3rd of July and the place was pretty busy, all kinds of flags flying.

This is Patriots Point, note "the Other"flag

The pic above is Fort Sumter, one of the places we did a tour of a couple of years ago.

Along the ICW as I mentioned before are some stunning properties and some interesting items too.

Must have been having a "bit of a do later"

Really?

House boat complete with wild garden

Pelican and friend, what was the one at the top on the right
Heres me looking seriously dishevelled but very very happy, just about to drop the hook somewhere.

I must make a mental note and tag the photo's of exactly where and when they were taken, I seem to remember a sundowner.

Ok BFN from Glenys and Don with Pearl
